Best niches in affiliate marketing for beginners
Best niches in affiliate marketing for beginners.
In this aricle, you are gonna be discovering how to find that lucrative market, that big idea, that really begins as step one of the entire affiliate marketing process. Now, I’ve been looking at your comments in this entire playlist, and a constant question that you guys have been asking is, “Well, as a total beginner, what market should I pick?” What niche should you be choosing? And, in this video, I’m gonna be show you exactly what I did when I picked my first market.
And you guys probably know this if you’ve been following me, my journey when I first started out was in the gaming space in the World of Warcraft market, and what I did was I started out with what it is that I love doing. Now, at the start of this entire process, that is what I’m going to advise you as well. Most of the time there’s this crossroad between two things, either passion or profit. And, especially in Asia where I’m from, most people are taught, either by society, their parents, by the government, by education, that career and profit is one thing and passion is a totally different thing.
But if we were to try and look at what’s changed in the world today, it’s basically the thing that is in our pockets right now. And this thing right here has enabled people like you and me to take what it is that we know, our knowledge, our passion, our life experience, and transform that into a product, into a business, and the question is, what is the thing that is meaningful for you? Just think about that for a second. If you were to think about every single market, whether it’s reviewing toys, whether it is Forex, whether it is teaching people how to do makeup, whether it, like for me, was for gaming, the first question you gotta ask yourself is, well, has somebody made or built a multi-million dollar business around that idea or topic or niche? And the answer would be, yes, 100%.
So the second question to ask then would be, so what is that person doing that you’re not doing, so that you can model and reverse engineer. You see, for those of you that ask what it is that I should be doing, pick a market that is in line with what it is that you love doing, your hobby, your passion, your life experience. Let’s face it, I know that in many ways I got lucky. The first market that I ever picked was in World of Warcraft, which happened to be something that I loved doing, and in this entire journey of building a business online, whether it’s your side hustle or your full-time thing, guess what, there is gonna be struggles, there is going to be roadblocks and challenges along the way.
And if you pick something that is not in line with what it is that you love doing, most sane people, they’re gonna quit at the first sight of challenge. There’s the big three: health, wealth, and relationships. When it comes to picking that market, now, for me, World of Warcraft is not really directly in health, wealth, or relationships. It’s gonna sound weird, even though it’s not in health, wealth, and relationships, the marketing message is related to health, wealth, and relationships.
Which one you think? Well, it’s one of the three. So for me, when I was marketing my World of Warcraft product, promoting somebody else’s product, getting paid commissions in return, the marketing message is that you can level up faster and you can make more gold, which is wealth, as well as increasing your status amongst your friends so that you’re seen as the top 1% in the game, social status, which is indirectly to relationships. So even though it could be a hobby, it could be a computer game like what it is that I did, you wanna think about how can we add in or tie in our marketing message into one of these big three things, okay? So that’s the start.
If you are thinking about what market to go into, you gotta start thinking about, okay, so pick one, and once you have clarity on what market you wanna pick, then the next thing is beginning with the end in mind. And how you begin with the end in mind is to do that due diligence on the thing that I wanna promote. Is that a physical product that is sold on Amazon that I wanna promote via Amazon Associates? Is it a software that is a very common, easy-to-sell tool that is utilized by people in that market? Is it a digital course that is sold on a platform like ClickBank, where it is a membership site, where it’s a video course or it’s an e-book? Is it a platform? Is it a platform where, for example, like Booking.
com or Agodaga.com. It’s a platform that, if you referred people to that platform, they would pay you a referral fee? Is it a service? (word pops) So begin with that first. There’s the initial niche, and then there’s the end product that you wanna promote. So do your due diligence by literally typing in niche name, so, for example, 4X affiliate program, and just looking at 4X affiliate program, you will see all of the different platforms out there that will pay you a commission for referring people to that platform.
Then, since this is the end in mind, the next thing you need to do is you need to create a bridge. Once you’ve identified what market you’re in, the next thing you gotta do is you gotta be building a list, ’cause if you’re not building a list, you’re not building a business. So how can I build a list, whether it’s giving out a free training, a free template, a free script, a free download, a free something so that somebody would gladly give me their name and email, and then I wanna start creating content to drive people into this page that gathers somebody’s name and email so that eventually I can refer people to that thing.
Let’s take, for example, a service. (word pops) Now, this could be like a social media platform service. This could be a done-for-you thing, where these platforms would pay you a commission for getting people into that service. Let’s say in the travel market. So let’s say, Agoda. So Agoda, Tripadvisor, Boooking.com, they all have an affiliate program, and they will pay you a commission whenever you refer people that utilize their service whether it’s booking hotels or flights. Now it could be under wealth, which is let me show you how to save money and travel on a budget.
It could be, let me show you how you can plan your perfect honeymoon. So if we wanna create content and understanding that our end in mind is promoting that service, where is our audience hanging out? Facebook, Instagram, will they search for us and find us on Google? Are they hanging out on YouTube where they’re doing searches or watching related videos in that market? So imagine I took out my phone, and right now what I’m gonna be doing is I’m gonna shoot a video. Now it doesn’t need to be a professional one.
It could be literally just selfie-style video, and all I’m going to do is hit Record, and I will shoot a video talking about how to plan your honeymoon on a budget, top 10 places to go to after the whole coronavirus thing ends, now depending on when you’re watching this video. So now I’m creating content based on what people are searching for, based on what people want. And at the end of that video, I will send people to a page that says, “If you want my ultimate cheat sheet on how you can plan your next travel on a budget, be sure to download my free cheat sheet to show you 10 common mistakes people normally make to make sure you don’t get ripped off in your next holiday in Asia,” for example.
Now that they are in your list, because you sent them here, whether it’s YouTube, whether it’s Facebook, whether it’s Instagram, in your follow-up sequence, this is when you’re gonna continue nurturing that relationship, giving them value. And once a while in your emails, send them to that service that you are promoting. So it could be you’re giving them tips on how to plan that next backpacking trip, and now naturally they need to book their flight, their hotel, and that’s when you come in and you say, “By the way, so if you’re looking to book your hotel, the site that I normally use is,” and that’s when you insert your affiliate link, and that is when they pay you money.
What if it’s a product? Peng Joon, what if it’s a physical product on Amazon? Same deal here, if it’s a physical product on Amazon. So let’s say my passion is in photography or videography and I wanna show people tech. Now I’m not a tech person, so I’m gonna totally make this up. But a common question that you guys are asking me all the time is my studio setup. Now truth is, I don’t know what my studio setup is, I don’t know the tech, but let’s say I did. And let’s say that is my market.
So all I would do is shoot a video, and in my video over here, I would say, (playful orchestral music) “Hey guys, today I’m gonna be taking you behind the scenes to my studio setup, and I’m gonna walk you through the different tech that I’m utilizing.” So I’m gonna begin with the cameras, I am going to begin by talking about the lights, I’m gonna be talking about the brands that I bought, the TVs, the switcher, behind the scenes to what’s happening in control room and all of that, right? So now I’m creating this content, and at the end of that video I’m gonna say, “So the model of my camera is the Sony” whatever, right, “together with this brand, which, by the way, if you are serious about getting the same model that I use, right below this YouTube video, I have left you the Amazon links.
” Guess what happens when I shoot that video? Now I can send people to my page with that PDF, with that checklist of this entire studio, all of the different cameras, all of the different lighting, and all the other things that people might need if they wanna replicate my same studio setup. And what am I doing? I can follow up with them, build a relationship with them, perhaps tell them, like, “Look, you don’t need to spend that much, and if you are looking to do it on a budget, here’s what you can do instead,” I am helping them get the result that they want, and now I am referring them to the physical product that being sold on Amazon.
So write down that sentence. What is the result that my audience wants to generate, and create content that genuinely helps them get that result and how that result can be achieved a whole lot faster through the services, through the product, through a software, through the platforms that you are referring over to them. So that’s exactly what I did, too, same thing here, to become one of top affiliates referring people to the software called ClickFunnels. So I do that same thing here by building a list first.
So notice, whether it is through my videos, whether it’s through my emails, I’m always thinking about the people that I’m helping. Who are the people that is going to require this software that is an easy sell? And that’s another thing you gotta be thinking about. It’s not about persuading somebody from a no to yes. It’s about thinking the niche, the market that I wanna help, who are the people that wants to buy this anyway, and they might as well buy that thing, that program, that software, the physical product through me, ’cause they’re gonna buy it anyway, and I’m just giving them an extra nudge.
So what if this would apply for every single type of product out there, whether it’s digital, whether it’s a platform, we gotta understand that every single market, health, wealth, relationships, whether you’re gonna sell supplements, whether you’re gonna sell cars, there’s an affiliate program for that. And the way to sell these things really well is to make sure you’re building a list, you’re building an audience where you’re sending people to that list. You’re nurturing that list so that you can connect it with the thing that you wanna promote.
Don’t start off by thinking about, I wanna promote 30 different things. Start with one, and promote that one thing well.
